What Happened to Job?

What Happened to Job?

Pastor Ignacio Hughes — 10-Session Series
Recorded in 2025

When suffering comes and answers seem far away, what we believe about God matters deeply. How can we understand Job’s story while keeping the Father’s goodness in view?

In this 10-session series, Pastor Ignacio Hughes examines the account of Job through the lens of James 1:13–17: God does not tempt anyone with evil, and every good gift comes from Him. From this foundation, he presents his interpretation of the events surrounding Job and challenges ideas that portray God’s character as desiring destruction or harm.

This study invites you to distinguish between trials, temptation, and spiritual attacks, consider the enemy’s involvement, and examine the human conclusions that arise amid suffering. It also encourages careful reading, paying attention to who is speaking and the context of their words.

James 5:11 recalls Job’s perseverance and emphasizes the Lord’s compassion and mercy. This perspective gives us a reason to continue trusting God even while our questions remain unanswered.

Explore Scripture, examine your convictions, and strengthen your confidence in God’s faithful and merciful character.
